Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do if I do not like the taste or texture of any of the powders?

Mix them in a smoothie, fruit and vegetable juices or milk – coconut, rice, almond milk. You can also take them with food if the taste is too strong. The alkalinising powder has the strongest taste, and if you prefer you can take this powder just before food.

Does the Dr Cabot Cleanse interact with medications prescribed by my doctor?

Dr Cabot has formulated this product to be a very safe, gentle cleanse which acts more like a food and therefore will not interact with drugs.

Is Dr Cabot's Cleanse safe to do when pregnant?

We advise that you do NOT do any form of cleansing or detoxification during pregnancy. It has been shown that a cleanse is beneficial to do for both expectant parents before conceiving; this will optimise chances of healthy eggs (follicles) and sperm and also reduce amounts of toxins in the body which could be transferred to the foetus. Also, this will reduce toxin accumulation in the breasts for women who want to breast feed.

Is the Dr Cabot Cleanse advisable while breastfeeding my baby?

It is fine to do the 15 Day Cleanse while breastfeeding.

Does the Dr Cabot Cleanse cause any side effects?

During a detox, you will be breaking down (metabolising) and eliminating more toxins from your body, and these will most likely have accumulated over many years. This can cause a headache, nausea or fatigue or perhaps a change in bowel actions. Generally, these symptoms are temporary and mild. You may also have slightly itchy skin, sweat more and feel a little overheated. Most symptoms will abate after several days and be reduced a lot by drinking more water. Rarely a skin rash may occur, which could be a detox reaction or an allergy; if this occurs call our Health Advisory Service on 0246558855.

How often can I do the Dr Cabot Cleanse?

This is up to you and your state of health and it is perfectly safe to do it every 3 months. It is beneficial to do it several times a year, but at least once a year. We do have an excellent maintenance plan that keeps your toxin load down and supports optimal health. You can continue to receive or make the food and you take the Dr Cabot Ultimate Superfood Powder and Dr Cabot The Ultimate Gut Health Powder every day long term. You will feel so much better, why would you want to go back to eating poorly and becoming deficient again.

Will my health be better after the Dr Cabot's Cleanse?

After 15 days you will have reduced the toxin load in all your body cells. You will also have improved your gut flora which will give you better digestion.

Usually, this makes you feel more energetic, less bloated and clearer in your brain. Long-term benefits will last several weeks to months, and obviously longer if you can maintain a healthier diet and lifestyle.

Are coffee and tea allowable during Dr Cabot's Cleanse?

Yes, you can have coffee but try to restrict it to 1-2 cups per day. Do not add dairy milk or any sweetener except for Nature Sweet Sugar Substitute. Real coffee is better than instant coffee, as instant coffee contains additives. Coffee has been proven to have benefits in some types of liver disease – great news !! You can use the following kinds of milk – coconut, almond, rice, or soy but must be unsweetened.

You can drink black tea but keep it weak in strength and do not add dairy or sugar.

While on Dr Cabot's Cleanse may I drink any alcohol?

No, as this will overload the liver and reduce your focus on detoxing.

Your liver will appreciate a rest from the hard work it is doing breaking down and eliminating many other toxins.

Can I lose weight from doing the Dr Cabot Cleanse?

Yes, you can, as the removal of toxins from the fatty deposits in the body and the liver, will increase the metabolic rate. Toxic chemicals are called OBESOGENS as they promote weight gain and fatty liver.

You can expect to lose one kilogram per week, especially if you stick to our recipes/ dietary principles.

Also if you avoid –

  • All sugar (except fruit)
  • Certain grains and their derivatives/products (wheat, rye, barley and oats)
  • All processed foods
  • All deep-fried foods

Who cannot do the Dr Cabot Cleanse?

  • Pregnant women
  • Those with kidney failure and/or liver failure, as these people are on a restricted specialised diet. Type 1 diabetics should check with their own doctor first. The Dr Cabot Cleanse is excellent for those with type 2 diabetes

You can also phone Dr Sandra Cabot’s Health Advisory Service on 0246558855 for any other questions.

Can the Dr Cabot Cleanse be taken by those with autoimmune diseases?

Yes, indeed as it helps the immune system, liver and gut function. It is gluten free which is favourable for those with autoimmune disease. In some people with autoimmune disease, a detox can cause a temporary but mild flare up of their inflammation, which causes a short-lived worsening of symptoms; this is generally only mild, and is not serious. For more information see our book titled Healing Autoimmune Disease.

Feel free to call our naturopaths for advice on 0246558855.

Can the Dr Cabot Cleanse be taken by people who suffer with allergies?

Yes, and it generally helps the immune system in such a way to reduce allergies in the long term.

It is important to note that allergic people are often over-reactors to all sorts of things in their diet and environment. A regular detox can help to reduce allergies over time.

People prone to allergies such as dermatitis, eczema, hives, hay fever or asthma are known as Atopic people. They are more likely to react to certain foods, herbs, pollens, animal hair and dust mite.

If anyone gets an allergic reaction to the Dr Cabot Cleanse, we recommend that the Ultimate Liver Detox is stopped. This is because the Superfood contains so many different ingredients including herbs and superfoods.

Then reintroduce the gut cleanse and repair product, and continue it until finished.
Then reintroduce the alkalinise sachet and continue until finished.

If the allergic reaction was mild, the Superfood can then be tried again, in a dose of a ¼ teaspoon daily in a smoothie or juice to see how they react. It is desirable to try the Superfood again because it is helpful for the immune system. Improvement will be slower, but will eventually occur.

If the reaction was severe, for example wheezing, swollen lips, hives etc, they will not be able to take the Dr Cabot Cleanse.

Is it good to do the Dr Cabot Cleanse if I have gallbladder problems or I have lost my gallbladder?

The Dr Cabot Cleanse is excellent for those who have lost their gallbladder and/or those with gallbladder stones or gallbladder disease. This is because it helps the liver to manufacture healthy bile that will not inflame bile ducts. People can still get problems with their liver and bile ducts even after gallbladder surgery and fatty liver is more common after gall bladder removal. Stones can form in bile ducts even after the gallbladder is removed resulting in liver pain and liver cysts. The Dr Cabot Cleanse will help the liver remove toxins from the body via the bile into the gut so they do not build up in the liver. For more info see my book on gallbladder problems.

Can children do the Dr Cabot Cleanse?

In general, children under the age of 15, do not need a Cleanse or Detox per se. However, some of the individual powders could be used in children over 8 years of age, if indicated.

For example – The Ultimate Gut Cleanse could be used in the adult dose in cases of indigestion, nausea, reflux, abdominal cramps, gut inflammation, etc. Obviously, the child must have seen their doctor first for a diagnosis.

Do I need to take any supplements whilst doing the Dr Cabot Cleanse?

There is no need to take extra supplements whilst doing The Dr Cabot Cleanse; indeed, you want to avoid taking too many different supplements during a detox. If you have been prescribed supplements for nutrient deficiencies (such as anaemia) you can continue taking these.

If you think you need extra support during the 15-day Cleanse, the most appropriate and effective supplements to take are –

  • Livatone Plus, one to two capsules twice daily with food to support liver function.
  • FibreTone Powder 2 tsp daily with your breakfast or smoothie to support healthy bowel motions. This is particularly good for constipation.
  • BactoClear natural antibiotic capsules, 1-2 capsules twice daily with meals if you have an overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria or candida in your gut.
  • Magnesium Ultrapotent powder 1 tsp in a glass of water daily will help to support a healthy nervous system and reduce detox symptoms such as headaches or muscle aches.

Do not take multivitamins or other superfoods during the 15-day Dr Cabot Cleanse.

Do I need to follow the meal plan exactly?

No, the meal plan is flexible and you can use it as a guide. You can mix and match the recipes, adjust the recipes or make up your own. The most important thing is that you are sticking to the dietary principles of the Dr Cabot Cleanse: No dairy, gluten, refined sugar, processed foods, alcohol or red meat for 15 days. The shopping list gives you a good idea of the types of ingredients you can use in your meals whilst on the Dr Cabot Cleanse.

Is the Sr Cabot Cleanse likely to cause diarrhoea?

This is not a common side effect. Most detox products on the market contain harsh laxatives but our Dr Cabot Cleanse does not contain laxatives and therefore it is unlikely to cause diarrhoea. In saying that, bowel changes are not uncommon during detoxing and everyone is different. If you are particularly sensitive you could try starting with ½ dose of each powder and see how you react before increasing to the full dose.

Are the powders meal replacements?

No, the powders are not meal replacements. They are nutritional formulas to be used in conjunction with the healthy meal plan provided in the Dr Cabot Cleanse kit.

Can I do two cleanses in a row?

Definitely! You can do two Dr Cabot Cleanse kits in a row to turn it into a 30 day cleanse. If you are making good progress on the Dr Cabot Cleanse but feel like you need longer to achieve your desired results, doing two kits in a row will result in a deeper cleanse. It is safe and beneficial to do this.

How often should I do the Dr Cabot Cleanse?

We recommend that people do the Dr Cabot Cleanse at least twice a year to give your body a good ‘spring clean’. It can be beneficial to do it up to 4 times a year, depending on how your health is and how many toxins you’re exposed to. If you have fallen off the wagon with your diet and health goals, doing the Dr Cabot Cleanse is a great way to reset you and get you back on track!
